Probably many people have known the story already.
An Arab sheikh is old and must will his fortune to one of his two sons. He makes a proposition. His two sons will ride their camels in a race, and which camel crosses the finish line last will win the fortune for its owner. During the race, the two brothers wander aimlessly for days, neither willing to cross the finish line. In desperation, they ask a wise man for advice. He tells them something; then the brothers leap onto the camels and charge as fast as they can toward the finish line. What did the wise man say?
He suggested them to switch camels.
The race in the story consists of two episodes. First one, when the two hadn’t meet with the wiseman yet. The situation was very boring (and I’m sure very frustrating) during this episode. They “raced” to be the slowest. It was an “almost seems to last forever” race.
The second episode starts when they met the wiseman and took his advice. The race became very live, exciting, much more compelling. And I’m sure both of them could enjoy the race.
It was a simple advice from the wiseman that altered the situation drastically. Simple one, but fundamental.
One should try this in real life. When it comes to tough and frustrating situation, when it seems there will be no end to it, when it looks like there’s no point of doing it at all… One should take a moment to stop and think. Probably there’s a change needed. No need to be a big change. A small but fundamental change probably will help the situation. Probably will really help the situation…
heh, ga tau tuh cerita itu..terus ga ngerti, tukeran unta malah jadi saling kebut2an?kenapa?
Ah nak Nico. Itu artinya nak Nico belum “membaca” dengan benar.
Yang menang kan owner dari unta yang masuk finish belakangan.
(Hint: bukan rider).
